Youth Organizing Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Youth Organizing Coordinator works with, trains and prepares youth of color to intelligently discuss, develop viable recommendations and confidently present to key stakeholders with respect to the following concepts:
• The perception of South Los Angeles young people of color
• Policies and systems that adversely impact and affect South Los Angeles young people of color
• Youth advocacy, organizing and social awareness around policies and systems change
• Perception versus reality as it pertains to influencing and controlling the behavior of South Los Angeles young people of color
• Networking and building coalitions to promote policy and systems change
• Researching and understanding the influences that affect and control policy and systems
• Structural, institutional and architectural racism
• Effectively presenting arguments for policy and systems change
• Interacting with other South Los Angeles young people of color to make clear their thoughts and beliefs around issues that adversely impact South Los Angeles young people of color
• Becoming agents of change for their lives and the lives of their family, peers and individuals residing in the communities where they live, play, attend school and work
