The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today that Team LeBron and Team Stephen have selected After-School All-Stars Los Angeles and Brotherhood Crusade, respectively, as the community-based organizations they will play for during the 67th NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 18 (8 p.m. ET) at Staples Center.
After-School All-Stars Los Angeles provides comprehensive out-of-school programming for more than 13,000 students in need across 52 schools while Brotherhood Crusade works to empower and support underserved youth in South Los Angeles through mentoring, education, health and wellness and leadership programs. Team captains LeBron James and Stephen Curry revealed their team’s selected community-based organization in videos shared on social media this morning.
The winning team will donate $350,000 and the losing team will donate $150,000 to their selected organization, which will also be highlighted throughout the NBA All-Star Game.
Charisse Bremond Weaver, Brotherhood Crusade CEO said, “We are overjoyed and truly overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation that the NBA and Stephen Curry have embraced Brotherhood Crusade and our young people in this way. The students will have a chance to attend the All Star game and practice. This is a magical experience that the youth will remember forever and the donation will go a long way in continuing our youth development programs that effect positive change in their lives.”
