Brotherhood Crusade 47th Annual Pioneer of African American Achievement Awards Delivers Elegant, High Impact Party with a Purpose. Community Champion, Laphonza Butler Saluted with Distinguished Honors. Youth Members Celebrated and Eric Benèt Brings the House Down with Stunning Performance
(Los Angeles, CA, November 11, 2015) – The Brotherhood Crusade presented what many are calling the “best ever” party with a purpose last Friday, November 6th at the Beverly Hilton. The joyous and prestigious 47th Annual Bremond-Bakewell Pioneer of African American Achievement Awards shined a light on the beloved labor leader and community champion SEIU Local 2015 President Laphonza Butler, and celebrated the remarkable achievements of its youth members. Grammy nominated R&B artist Eric Benèt gave an amazing performance that brought the house down.
The event theme, “Be An Ingredient for Change” carried a message of hope and a charge for each guest in the room to make an impact in the lives of people in need. The message was also extended to Brotherhood Crusade youth leaders, who through Brotherhood Crusade mentoring, programs and guidance, have overcome gang violence, the foster care system, drug addiction, the ravages of poverty, and the rise of violence to overcome and achieve college acceptances, scholarships, and obtain leadership roles in their schools and community.
